NicK & Six is a collective of (two) multi-sensory artists/storytellers who express the purest forms of our connection to the self through music. We met in 2016 just after we both made the decision to step away from our day jobs to pursue music full-time. Our limited financial abilities left us vulnerable to exploitation and music provided an escape from the interpersonal abuse we faced. Although escaping abuse displaced us, we found community through music in countless cities in our two journeys across the US and to the UK whilst searching for safety. Music has helped us show up authentically in community and enabled us to advocate for mental health, homelessness, and other challenges we've faced as survivors at the intersection of multiple systematic marginalizations. Music has acted as a form of protest, a cry for help, and a loving call to community for us. Now, in recording our first studio projects, we view each song we create as a piece of a world rid of the overtrumping rhythm of capitalism, co-created by fellow folks in the margins of society. Our first single, ‘The SaddesT Sunflower (EP)’ is a reflective anthem for the sunflower-presenting emo children of the world. Our follow-up single, Gypsy Heart, is a statement of self-observation; of the comfort that constant changes in surroundings has brought me and of my lack of attachment to anything but self, as a survivor of childhood human trafficking. Gypsy Heart is a letter to my abuser that never got sent because I chose to protect myself by escaping, instead.

‘Somebody Else (She / Her)’ is a chronicle of the internal search that deepened the connection to self amidst life-altering transformations. The most important question this song begs is: Once you realize that who you are is not equivalent to your lived experiences, who are you?
